Linear vs. Log-scale

Just a quick summary, as i have had DMs about it recently

-- Logarithmic Charts Explained --

Logarithmic or log price scale, represents price spacing on the vertical or y-axis dependent on the PERCENTAGE CHANGE in the underlying asset's price

Think of it as the log scale shows the rate of change over time

-- Linear Charts Explained --

Linear or arithmetic price scale, represents price on the y-axis using equidistant spacing between the designated prices / the absolute values

Think of it as showing the absolute number increase / decrease over time

-- When to Use Log rather than Linear --

Tr aders tend to use log for Long-Term perspective or when price movements are large / in multiples

Linear scale is used more by Day traders within tight ranges

Log is the more common as default

-- Summary --

I use Log when looking at HTF's and trying to find confluences with trend lines / pitchforks etc...

I find with #Bitcoin due to the large % price moves I tend to keep my charts on Log

NOTE: Some @tradingview indicators have specific log scale settings

What are Fibonacci numbers ?

�� Fibonacci numbers are a numerical series depicting nature’s expansion

�� The same number sequence appears all over throughout nature. i.e.

�� The number of petals on a flower

�� A snail shell

�� The sequence is made by simply starting at 1 and adding the previous number to arrive at the new number:

0+1=1, 1+1=2, 2+1=3, 3+2=5, 5+3=8, 8+5=13, 13+8=21, 21+13=34,…

�� Other important properties are the ratios when comparing any number to the number that is found 'X' places to the right:

�� 0.618- A.k.a the "Golden Ratio" - where X = 1

�� 0.382 - where X = 2

�� 0.236 - where X = 3

�� It is these Ratios that have a correlation to market movements in terms of price and time cycle

�� We use them to provide targets for:

�� Price Extensions

�� Price Retracements

�� Time Cycles

How Fibs are used in Trading?

�� Firstly we need to talk very basic Wave Theory / Elliot Wave

�� While stock market prices may appear random and unpredictable, they actually follow predictable, natural laws and can be measured and forecast using Fibonacci numbers

�� Without going to deep, the basic principle is; waves move in Impulses & Corrections

�� Impulse waves (BLACK) are made up of 5 sub waves

�� Corrections (RED) are made up of 3 sub waves

�� Impulses & Corrections go in both directions

�� Waves are fractal in nature i.e. drill deeper & find the same patterns in a lower degree / time frame

�� Trend direction will determine if the impulse's are up or down

�� Elliot Wave has a lot more to it which i will cover another time

�� Fib Extensions, Retracements & Time Cycles help predict key pric e levels

�� Extensions, provide price targ ets

�� Retracements, provide areas of support and reversal

�� Time Cycles, give some indication of WHEN the wave will complete

Using Fib Extensions

�� Common Fibonacci extension levels are 61.8%, 100%, 161.8%, 200%, and 261.8%

�� TradingView has a Trend-base Fib Extension tool that helps plot levels on a chart

�� I use Fib extensions to help predict where the next wave will finish

Using Fib Retracements

�� Common Fibonacci retracements levels are 23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8%, 78.6% and 88.7%

�� TradingView has a Fib Retracement tool that helps plot levels on a chart

�� I use Fib retracements to help predict where the next wave opposite to the trend will finish

Using Time Cycles

�� A little less know or used form of the Fib Ratios, is to use it to help determine time cycles

DARP (Distributed Autonomous Routing Protocol) is a routing protocol that analyzes the internet pathways

16. --How do i get buy my first Crypto ? --

NOTE: This is a very basic explanation for a beginner investor

This could be a 50 tweet thread on its own, so is just to illustrate that it isn't as difficult as many make out

Select a crypto exchange that offers a Fiat gateway open to your region i.e. Binance or Coinbase
Setup an account on the exchange, this will create a digital wallet on the exchange to store your crypto
Transfer some Fiat currency to the exchange. Tutorials can be found on the exchange websites
Select he Crypto you want to purchase i.e. Bitcoin
Most exchanges let you "Buy Now" via market orders
Place your order and execute, the Crypto should now appear in your exchange digital wallet
It is just as simple to sell the Crypto back to Fiat
If you want to hold onto the crypto for a while, it is advisable that you purchase a hardware wallet like a ledger and move the crypto off the exchange for safety.

Diversify - Buy the top 2 cryptos from each of the different areas of utility (of which there are many)

Short answer NO! bitcoin is not a bubble nor is it a Ponzi scheme

Rekt, “wrecked,” lost a large sum or been liquidated
HODL, "hold on for dear life", to hold on to your asset and not sell it.
FUD, or "fear, uncertainty and doubt" occurs when someone spreads misinformation
FOMO, or "fear of missing out", might influence you to buy a coin or not cash out on some profits from that coin
"Pump" refers to artificially inflating the price of a crypto so you can sell it at a profit. ("dump it")
"Wen moon" is asking something all crypto-enthusiasts are dying to know: "when will bitcoin's price hit all time highs?"
Shitcoin - everything other than Bitcoin is a shitcoin
Safu , "Secure Asset Fund for Users" your assets are safe

What is the current state of play?

1. -- What is “Alt Season”? --

A.k.a Altszn, is a part of the cryptocurrency market cycle when many alt coins “moon”
"Mooning" is when a coin go up quickly in price
Basically an Altszn is when the Alts are out performing BTC against the $New Paragraph

2. -- What is Bitcoin Dominance? --

Ticker: BTC.D on trading view

BTC.D is the ratio between the market cap of BTC to the rest of the crypto markets
Bitcoin is still the largest cryptocurrency, but over time its dominance has dropped as new cryptocurrencies were created

3. -- How to interpret BTC.D --

BTC.D increases, BTC is gaining market share
BTC.D decreases, BTC is losing market share
Think of market share as the % of all the money currently invested in Cryptocurrencies
Note that the Price of BTC isn't directly correlated to BTC.D

4. -- How to trade based on BTC.D --

In general:

BTC.D increasing, exit weak Alt trades and have a higher % of your portfolio in BTC
BTC.D decreases, enter strong Alt trades and have a higher % of your portfolio in Alt coins

However value of BTC can drop or rise taking the Alts with it and the dominance could stay static
This is why you need to add in another indicator to help determine what you should do, TOTAL2

5. -- What is TOTAL2? --

Ticker: TOTAL2 on trading view

T OTAL2 is an index that represents the total crypto market cap EXCLUDING BTC
Think of it as the total amount of money currently invested in everything crypto minus Bitcoin

6. -- How to interpret TOTAL2 --

TOTAL2 increases, more money is flowing into the Alt coins
TOTAL2 decreases, money is flowing out of the Alt coins
Note that TOTAL2 isn't directly related to the value of BTC, in fact sometimes it is inversely correlated

7. -- How to identify an Altszn?--

You need to use BTC.D and TOTAL2 in conjunction together with the $BTC price chart
The signature you are looking for is:

TOTAL2 shooting UP
BTC.D dropping
BTC PA static or falling

Typically you get an Altszn when BTC has found a local top or is consolidating
A good example of an Altszn is the 2017 top Down pointing backhand index

8. -- What is the current state of play?--

We have just seen a mini Altszn, as shown in the chart below
So could this mini Altszn be over for now?
What happens next? & what to look for?
IMHO, I think BTC.D may bounce & BTC $ value become volatile i.e. push up or down
If BTC pushes up Alts will likely do OK against the $ pairs, but not against BTC
BUT if BTC dumps, Alts will likely lose more $ value than BTC
